We are the Brainerd Warrior Fishing Team!
We are a High School and Middle School Fishing team in Brainerd, MN. Serving students in 6th – 12th grade in the Brainerd Public School District (ISD 181).
What We Do
Our team gives students the opportunity to catch some Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Perch and more! Our team participates in tournaments, fundraisers, seminars and practices that are fun for the students, instructors and boat captains! We also give back to our local community and sponsors by volunteering in local events. In the team’s first year, two of our students won the state championship and were able to move on to the national tournament in Illinois! We will give you the tips and teach you the tricks to become a well-rounded angler.
Who Should Join Our Team
Any ISD 181 student who is going into 6th grade through 12th grade who is interested in becoming a better angler, or just wants to get out fishing, we are the team for you!
How To Join
Our Season starts in February of each year and runs year round. We will put up posters and update this page and our Facebook page with these important dates each year.
Hi fishermen and ladies,
We are going through some strange times right now. We fully anticipate for us to fully recover and get back to normal activities and fishing as soon as possible. As soon as we are able to safely meet, we will do exactly that.
Time at home is still a great way to sharpen your skills. I have attached a video on how to tie a polamar knot. If you do not know how to tie this knot, please take the time and practice it until you can do it blindfolded.
I have also attached a video for the modified albright knot which attaches a braided line to a fluorocarbon or a mono-filament leader. It’s a very important knot as our lakes get clearer and clearer.
Also now is a great time to do some casting in your yard or even your basement. Set up a 5 gallon bucket, start close and move it further and further away until you can cast accurately at long distances. You can do this with a casting or spinning rod. If you have a sibling at home, try the basketball game P-I-G, calling your shot and distance.
By the time we are through this we will all be ready to fish, let’s stay ready!
Talk soon, Coach Jason
